USB 2.0 is hard pressed to give better than 5-10 MB a second and I heard
fire-wire was far less than that ( I read some review CNET review on that).

I find i thard to believe that any standard is giving 50 MB/s right now...

I don't believe the 50MB/s number: 50MBytes/sec x 8 bits/byte =
400Mbits/second, i.e. zero overhead. That ranks right up there with free
energy.
