Could it be that your drive is jumpered to "slave"?
This jumper setting will allow a computer to boot a drive as a master but
who knows how the slave setting will work in the Archos.
Glenn.

Folks,

I put a 40 GB drive in my v2 recorder and get the following on power up.

--------------------
ATA error: -11

Press ON to debug
--------------------

So I press on and see:

--------------------
PADR: 8A7F
PBDR: B8BF
AN0: 3FF
AN1: 3FF
AN2: 003 (flashes to 004 and 005)
AN4: 00A (flashes 009)
AN5: 002 (003)
AN6: 1B7 (1B8)
AN7: 001 (002)
Batt: 3.53V -1%
ATA: slave, 0x0

So obviously, the problem is that this is coming up as a slave drive. I've
looked at the docs for the drive and they indicate that no jumpers means
it's a master. The drive works fine in an external enclosure, but I guess I
won't be able to use it in my recorder...

Bummer.

Gerrit
