Re: voice UI, step 1 committed (talking menus)

OK, I have done the following and still no voice:

Installed the latest leading edge build for the fmr (tested, it works)
Placed the voicefont file with no exe in the .rockbox folder
Copied to .rockbox/lang folder and renamed to "english.voice"
Shut down then restarted the juke box.

There was no voice.

Do I need to select something or should it have started up after boot?

I have no personal CFG file so that cannot be it.
I got the leading edge build from the bottom of the daily build page is that
right?

Thanks for your patients. Nothing is ever easy for me but once I get it I
can usually figure it out from there...Cheers...rocker

Yes, the big one.

Yes, please do. I just tried, the stupid Internet Explorer adds this .txt
extension. Looks like it doesn't want to leave a file witout extension and
adds
this as default when downloading. The file on the server has no extension.
Reason is that I just couldn't think of a suitable one at that time.

BTW, I re-made my mind about file name and position. I will change the code
(while it's not too late) to load voicefonts from the ".rockbox/langs/"
directory. This makes more sense. I will rename it there to "english.voice".
This
paves the way to have the voicefont follow the selected language, there may
be multiple files. To be prepared, please duplicate the voicefont file to
there, rename it for the new name. This way you're prepared for my next
version.
Later you can delete the first file.

Yes, better do so, to avoid confusion. You may leave it abandoned there, but
it won't help.

And please update Rockbox to the bleeding edge build. This one talks a lot
more already, committed step 2 this morning. It will be in the daily build
from tomorrow on, the bleeding one has it already.

Sorry for my too brief description and any confusion.
Jörg
