Indeed - pure whackiness.
Anyway, no, curruption doesn't occur with other things.

It's probably got to do somehow with how an mp3 can still be played if you
rip pieces a song, or crop pieces or whatever. Surely some mechanism that
allows the mp3 to still be valid after being snickered with allows the
swapping to happen.
