If the supplies were voltage-regulated, then it would not be likely to be a problem. But they are not regulated. That means that the voltage drops as load increases and the Archos power supply can provide 9V at 1/2 amp (500ma) of current. I just took the 9v, 600ma adapter that came with my Archos Studio 10 and plugged it in. With no load (nothing attached), the voltage is 14.5V! Put 600ma of load on it and it will drop closer to the 9V rating. Now, if it was rated at 800ma, then the same 600ma load would probably result in a significantly higher voltage.
