Subject: No "safely remove hardware" icon

No "safely remove hardware" icon

From: <csweet_at_hawaii.rr.com>

I love my new V2.

Sometimes when I plug the USB cable in to my computer, the RockBox USB icon comes up on the V2's screen, but my computer doesn't recognize the device (and thus there's no "safely remove hardware" icon in the system tray).

Is there any alternative to just yanking the cable and starting over?

Sometimes nothing bad comes of it; sometimes I get an error message on the V2. To date, I've simply shut down the V2 and started over, which has seemed to work. But the last such event seems to have created an unknown ".DAT" file in the V2's root directory. Can I just delete that?

Thanks for your help.

BTW, for those who are interested, I tried to post this on the newmp3technology board and I seem unable to do so - I get a variety of error messages, including "invalid session" and "username is already taken". Grrr.
