Hi all,

the item explained in the following is not really affecting Archos or
Rockbox, but somehow closely related, so I would like to hear about your
experiences:

I bought a Volkswagen, coming with an original Volkswagen car radio (made by
Blaupunkt) and original Volkswagen CD changer (made by Panasonic).
As the radio doesn't have a AUX IN, there was no possibility to additionally
plug in the AJB.
First step was then to plug off the CD changer and simply connecting the
AJB's headphone signal the to the AUDIO-IN Pins of the CDC connector of the
radio.

Result was NOTHING - no sound and radio displays "NO DISC".
I figured out, that the radio needs the CDC's control signal to enable the
audio inputs.
Ok.
That brought me to the idea to simulate the CDC control signal and finally
the complete protocol.
So currently I'm able to "open" the radio audio inputs by sending same stuff
like the CDC does.
The radio thinks there is a CDC and I get full control of it.
Other feature is, that key presses are now remote controlling the AJB.
Automatic power on of the AJB (when ignition is on) is under construction.

Well I'm thinking now about creating an open source project for that kind of
OEM CDC replacement to "open the door" for any audio source.
Reason for that is, that I'm really beginning to hate that kind of
proprietary stuff that comes in more and more into new car generations.

Did anybody face similar problems related to OEM radio/CDC combinations
(which ones) ?
How did you solve it ?
Would there be any "wide" interest about such a project ?
