RE: TBX works, setting time and date works

Hi, Rocker.
To my knowledge, flashing is not necessary to audibly set time,
though I may be wrong on this, as I've only used a flash unit for time
setting. However, try loading the latest build of Rockbox, then going to
menu/general settings/system/set time and date and see what happens.

Hey Aman, Does date and time only work with flashed units?

Hi, all, and particularly to Jörg.
Just wanted to report that, having just flashed the newest build,
and renamed all .dirname.mp3 to .dirname.tbx, the directories speak just as
before. Date and time setting is now spoken. This change was up on CVS a few
days ago. First build I've used with this capability and it works well. The
only issue, and it's a small one, is that though "hours" "minutes" and
"seconds" are spoken, year, month and day aren't. That is, it will say "15
hours" and "25 minutes" but not "month 3" or "day 20". The date is simply
spoken as numbers 2004 4 11. This isn't at all vital, since it's easy to
find out which column you happen to be in, as the months only go up to 12
and the days to the 30s, and I have yet to see a year with 2005 months, or a
month with 2005 days. However, it might be an idea to add "month" "day" and
"year" to the next update of the voice file.
Thanks as always. If only all embedded players were like this. I
think of the plextalk units, which basically do slightly less than Rockbox
with CDs, and which sell for $900 or so, and I can only shake my head.
Aman
