Apostrophe, exclamation point, dollar, hyphen, brackets, braces, parentheses and many other "special" characters, while legal in FAT-32 filenames, introduce problems similar to the leading period, since they are often used for special functions in command-line interpreters.

Underscore, however, is rarely treated as anything other than part of the filename.
