Ok,

once again entering that item of waking up a completely powered down AJB by
plugging in the external power supply in car adapter mode (HW solution see
at the end):

I was now able to built the Rockbox development environment on my PC and I
was also able to create a Archos.mod for my AJB Studio Player - so far it
sounds fine ;-))

I tested Craig's SW modification, that was following:

Remove this block of code in main.c and a flashed Rockbox will act as if the
on button was pressed when power is applied:

if (coldstart && charger_inserted())
{
   rc = charging_screen(); /* display a "charging"
                              screen */
   if (rc == 1 || rc == 2) /* charger removed or
                              "Off/Stop" pressed */
   power_off();
   /* "On" pressed or USB connected: proceed */
}

Well, I have no possibility to flash my AJB and I even don't want to.
Even so I tried making that mod, w/o any effect at all.

I guess best way would be to follow that patch submitted, that was commented
as already
working:

Ok:
I'm an experienced programmer, but I do NOT have any knowledge in Rockbox
internals.

I would like to take over that task in case I do have any chance to solve it
(remeber: I'm currently knowing NOTHING from inside).

Does anybody have some hints where to start ?

Could anybody translate that Patch (Diff-File) in real C files where I can
make my own diff-files to see the differences ?

Does anybody have some info, that this patch NOT might work (because of any
known reason) ?

PS:

At the end some words about the HW solution with power pulse:

- I did not find anybody, who could explain how it works exactly.
- I was never able to reach any result with my AJB Studio player.
- Some guys were commenting that they hit the criteria by luck while
switching on car ignition.

=> I still do have the opinion, that that HW solution isnt't very well,
because it's (maybe) not working at all, or not working 100%-ly and needs
aditional HW to work in the car (some HW device creating that power pulse)
