Because this was an act of desperation. We wanted off the sinking Sourceforge servers immediately, so we just moved the repository. Migrating to another system would have taken more time and effort.

We have been looking at Subversion for a long time and will move to it eventually. We will warn everybody ahead of time about that, though. :-)
