Date: Wed, 19 May 2004 23:33:58 +0200 hi ! a friend of mine, still active in the c64/gameboy-music-scene (micromusic.net - nerds ;) doesn`t want to carry his "big`n`heavy" 1541 diskdrive to his gigs. what did he do to have his equipment more "leightweight" ? - he built an adapter to hook his jukebox to the datasette port (named that hardware adapter the "audiosette") - got http://wav-prg.sourceforge.net/index.html to convert c64 program files to wav files - converted his audio-tools (e.g. tools like http://www.prophet64.com/) to a wav file - converted that wav file to mp3 - put that on his jukebox - and...... watch yourself: http://rockbox.my-vserver.de/pics/pic1.jpg http://rockbox.my-vserver.de/pics/pic2.jpg coool - RETRO! :D now i wonder: could there be a plugin for rockbox, doing that "PRG to Audio Conversion" on the fly - i.e. to "play a PRG File" - so pushing the "play button" on your archos is just like "press play on tape" ? i don`t ask for someone doing this - and NO - the world doesn`t really need this - but i just would like to know your opinion, if such plugin would be possible. maybe, every byte could be precalculated into a single mp3 frame - that resulting 255 different frames could be stored on the player and "merged" togeter to a mp3-bytestream ? i don`t know about the datasette audio format at the moment.... :) (hey - just brainstorming) regards roland ps: this is no joke - april is over! pps: there is a gig in stockholm at 26.05.2004: http://www.firestarter-music.de/gigs.htm of that audiosette guy. maybe you like retro-gameboy-c64-music-stuff _______________________________________________ http://cool.haxx.se/mailman/listinfo/rockbox Received on 2004-05-19 Page template was last modified "Tue Sep 7 00:00:02 2021" The Rockbox Crew -- Privacy Policy |
