I see now, you have constant vibrations.
can't you just protect your archos from the wind ?
maybe tie it firmly in your back?
or in an solid enclosure and leave the archos floating inside maintained

I'm just really wondering if my motorcycling stresses out a hard drive too much. I understand that your scooter is bumpy and that it has not caused problems with your Archos. For me, it's not so much the bumps as it is the buffeting of the wind. When I get up to 80 MPH on the Interstate, my Archos always skips. The music will cut out in mid-song and the unit will be silent for sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes even longer. Then it will reappear.
