Mike managed to get the CPU specs and is currently working on an emulator, last time I talked to him he had a preliminary disassembler available.
I don't know what progress he has made since but there is clearly hope that Rockbox can be ported to the gmini. I haven't been able to do anything since Mike's mail about the gmini, but others should contact him to see if he needs help. He seemed to be available on the #rockbox irc channel on freenode.
