I've seen one other device (Delkin or Belkin???), still USB1, same design
more or less (the sites ), even more expensive (70$) and 1 more
button/function: check the files on the usb destination...

I have been considering a syncbox but it seemed a bit expensive at £49
(especially as it's USB1).

Are there any alternative devices that do the same thing???????

You don't. It has two modes: One in which it copies a specific directory (a
directory hardcoded into the device) to the target device, and one where it
copies the whole source device.

They are copied to numbered directories. It finds the directory with the
highest number (something like syncbox###) and increments it by one.
