Your description seems to describe my V2 Recorder (the non-FM version).
Holding the unit the four corners are rubber bumpers with screws through
the left and right sides. The USB connection is a mini-USB connection on
the lower front right edge of the unit. Directly next to the mini-USB
connection is the power adaptor plug. On the lower front left edge of the
unit are the two plugs for ear AV out, and line in.

There are three flat horizontal buttons below the faceplate that covers
the LCD panel, and immediately below the three flat horizontal buttons is
the circular buttons for fast forward and rewind, and movement through the
menus - up and down. In the center of those buttons is a round button for
play and pause.

On the left lower edge of the circular ring of buttons are the on and off
buttons.

My unit is a Recorder V2 without the FM piece and it works fine with Rockbox.
