Date: Sat, 12 Jun 2004 13:21:43 +0100 OK the problem is definitely around the modified code for the power off : I added/modified power.c on my standard build : void power_off(void) { int i; char buff[20]; /* fade out with volume control before powering down */ for(i=mas_codec_readreg(0x10); i; i--) mas_codec_writereg(0x10, i); sleep(HZ/10); /* pause to let the chip finish it's ramping */ As per BC's modifications, and I experienced the same "Lock up's" on attempting to power off. Changing the code to : void power_off(void) { int i; char buff[20]; /* fade out with volume control before powering down */ for(i=mas_codec_readreg(0x10); i; i--) { snprintf(buff,20,"%08X",i); lcd_clear_display(); lcd_puts(1,1,buff); lcd_update(); button_get(true); mas_codec_writereg(0x10, i); sleep(HZ/10); /* pause to let the chip finish it's ramping */ } Shows the start value to be &00006780, which takes a LONG TIME to count down, As Register x10 is the Volume with a value between 0 and 7F, why am I being returned such a huge number? The volume at the time was set to 82% (Rockbox scale) Mark |-----Original Message----- |From: rockbox-bounces_at_cool.haxx.se |[mailto:rockbox-bounces_at_cool.haxx.se] On Behalf Of BlueChip |Sent: 12 June 2004 11:03 |To: Rockbox development |Subject: RE: Audio_3587 Beta Status Update | |Do you have ICQ or AIM or something? | |If so email me privately with your details. | |I've got an idea what this "fade delay" might be. |I don't understand it, but I'm damn sure I know where to look |in my mods. | |If I am right, it may well help to identify the other weird hangs :) | |BC | |>OK, update on the behaviour of the "BC Build" on my FMR... |> |>If I F1-ON and allow the original firmware to boot, and it then auto |>loads the new build... |> |>Even with all the settings at defaults (f2 - yes), the OFF |key behaves |>strangely! |> |>I have Resume set to YES, so on power up, it starts playing a |track, if |>I now press and hold OFF, With the "Official" firmware, there is an |>approximate 2 second delay, and then the unit switches off With your |>build, there is a 2 second delay, then 4 seconds of gradually fading |>volume, and finally the unit switches off! |> |>I really hope you can sort this problem, and I am happy to assist in |>anyway I can, as it really does sound good... |> |>Mark |> |>|-----Original Message----- |>|From: rockbox-bounces_at_cool.haxx.se |>|[mailto:rockbox-bounces_at_cool.haxx.se] On Behalf Of BlueChip |>|Sent: 11 June 2004 02:20 |>|To: Gary; Rockbox development |>|Subject: RE: Audio_3587 Beta Status Update |>| |>|That is, not, how it's done ;) |>| |>|There are comprehensive step-by-step instructions at the |bottom of the |>|release notes, but to summise: |>|Pick one rock, rename the one you pick to Audio_3587.rock |and place it |>|in the rocks directory. |>|You MUST also, pick a firmware for your machine, rename this file to |>|ajbrec.ajz and place it in your root (main) directory. |>| |>|However, if you are also getting weird lock-ups, I must be doing |>|something that the v2/fm doesn't like.
