People will often complain when you send a reply and quote ALL the previous message, even when you are responding to only a small portion of the message. If a few other people reply without trimming the old messages, you very soon end up with a message that is several hundred lines long, and all you have added is a line or two! This is a real waste of bandwidth, especially for those of us who are still crippled with dialup connections, which may be only 28k or whatever. It is always helpful to leave the name of the poster you are replying to, and a few pertinent lines of the original message to show what you are replying to. This makes it easy for your readers to get a point of reference on what you are saying. I doubt that anyone sensible would ask you to remove ALL the original message when replying. :) -- Mike Holden Rockbox page: http://www.mikeholden.org/~rockbox _______________________________________________ http://cool.haxx.se/mailman/listinfo/rockboxReceived on 2004-06-14 Page template was last modified "Tue Sep 7 00:00:02 2021" The Rockbox Crew -- Privacy Policy |
