Rockbox mail archiveSubject: USB lockup on Archos Studio10USB lockup on Archos Studio10

Date: Sun, 20 Jun 2004 21:38:54 -0700 Hello All, I'm new to this list. I just recently bought a Studio10 off of ebay for cheap. It runs OK and I put Rockbox on it (very cool!). The only (big) problem is that I can't upload or download more than about 5-10 files to it before it stops transferring and locks up (when using Linux). When I plug it into a Win98 box, the computer says the jukebox has harddrive failure. The Jukebox plays mp3's just fine and when I plug in USB, the LCD displays "USB mode". No errors on Jukebox side. I took the jukebox apart and plugged in the HD to my Linux server as a second IDE drive without any problems, transferred 1 gb more of mp3's onto the HD and put it back together. Still plays fine, but when connected to USB gives all kinds of HD errors in syslog and freezes transfer. Lastly, I took the drive out again and formatted it under Windows. Chkdsk before formatting gave a bunch of errors, but afterwards chkdsk was clean. Still the same problem when plugged in to USB. The only way I can get files to and from the jukebox is to attach the HD directly to my Linux box. THE BIG QUESTION, Is this a problem with the jukebox hardware or the HD? Seems to me a jukebox hardware/USB problem, but why all the disk errors? Thanks in advance.
