Hi, no help, I'm totally blind, and whether you want it or not, many
of us have taken up rockbox because it's remained accessible. I
realise that you're a third party developer, only partially associated
with the project, and that this is probably not of concern to you.

What about the little patch that uses the red LED as a record
...iirc it flashes when waiting and stays on during record. It means
lose the disk-access indicator, but little red lights and record
have been associated for years :)
