Rockbox mail archiveSubject: bug antiskip bufferbug antiskip buffer

Date: Wed, 23 Jun 2004 19:23:31 +0200 Hi, I have a recorder 20, and I notice a very strange behaviour: Listening to a song, it skips, I mean when the disk spinns, it remains silent for a second or so. It happens with one folder I have, so I thought, it must be fragmentation. I removed the folder, defragmented the disk, and copied the folder again, defragmenting once more. I can still repete the problem consistently, and I tried various firmwares from the last 20 days, they are all the same. I now go on to what seems strange to me: My antiskip buffer was set to 0, and I could understand, perhaps a 70% full disk could do this. But, I tried to put the antiskip buffer even to 7 seconds, and the problem still persists. a little less, but consistent, I mean, the pauses are there, but they are just a couple of tenths of seconds now. What makes me think of an anomaly, is that, with the antiskip buffer set to 7 second, I should expect my disk begin to spinn 7 seconds before the gap occurs, correct? Well, my disk begins to spin just 2 secs before, and obviously the gap is still there! Is it a problem of my archos, or how come? If someone would like to reproduce the error, I can send you the track, but it's so strange because it happens with the whole alboom, and I' have not head the chance to notice it in other folders. Could it be something linked to the vbr? A, btw, how do you fix the vbr now? My voice stops whe I go to open with, and the vbr fix option is nolonger in the main on+play menue. Am, I also noticed some more options not spoken in file view, is there an update voice file somewhere?
