I think you'd need to write to the disk, otherwise you won't see
corruptions, no bad reads would manifest themselves on the disk.
So as an important part of the test I suggest to record, delete some files,
save settings, etc.

PS: The fast code works well for me, I use it since it was written, but I
have a Fujutsu disk.
