RE: Koss Porta pros... WARNING

I've had my Koss KSC-35s (same drivers as the portapros) for about 2 weeks
now. Now, on the night before a 6 1/2 hour bus trip, one of the drivers on
this $35 pair of headphones just failed - making this awful crackling
noise, unlistenable. It's sort of like if a woodpecker was drilling into my
ear, only $35 more expensive. Sounds like one of the leads is sporadically
coming loose, or maybe the driver is just blown. I did nothing that could
have caused this... I suspect it's the cheap POC construction of these toy
headphones.

OK, I just opened the housing on the back of the driver that the wire goes
into, and I see it's made so that the edge of the plastic housing presses
directly down into the housed wire, tearing through it. Humph.

Just informing you in case one of you was still considering buying
something similar. Next time I wait until I can afford to buy something
real instead of throwing away $35 on some cheap toy that lasts 2 weeks.
What a drag.

I can't believe I read so people recommending this piece of trash. FWIW, I
previously was ecstatically happy with the cheapo Koss 4P earbuds, which
sound astonishingly good for what they are - and when they fail, I'll only
be out $6.50.
