Subject: repairing JB usb plug

repairing JB usb plug

My usb plug on the JB FM recorder is broken :o(

The black plastic part inside has broken, i can remove it now.
See picture there : http://gazeld.free.fr/usb.bmp

So i'm left with 5 pins alone inside the plug.
When i put back the plastic part, i can get the usb to be recognized (it's powered and rockboxx draws the
usb on the screen), but not recognized on the computer site. Some pins are not getting contact i believe.

Some weeks ago, i had quite success putting some glue at the back of the plastic part to make it stay,
and then filling each of the 5 holes (where the pins are), with some wire, to make pins bigger and force
electric contact. This worked several days, but it finally broke again...

The plug is so small that it's hard to even touch the pins, even with tweezers. Soldering a new plug
seems quite impossible also for me, because it's really smaller than everything i ever soldered.

I don't know what to do, since a repair would be costly i believe.

Any idea ?

thx
