Subject: RE: Hard drive question

RE: Hard drive question

I use a 5400rpm toshiba drive, I have read reviews that the power
consumption increase over an old-skool 4200rpm drive is negligable...
http://www6.tomshardware.com/mobile/20031031/notebook_hard_drives-03.html

I have also noticed that the "spin up time" reported by RockBox is 2010ms
which is over half a second quicker than my old 4200rpm drive. Aparantly,
Archos are also sometimes shipping 5400rpm drives in their latest products.

The Toshi is also less motion sensitive than the old IBM travelstar I had,
but it was a very old one - before they were taken over by Hitachi, and
there have been several technology advances since then so they are probably
all pretty much the same these days.

Stu.
