Almost correct.

We have ~7 KB read-write data, of which the init values would be a candidate
for this. They are "dead space" in the ROMbox build, used only once; but not
for the standard RAM version where the content just gets overwritten. The
ucl decompression is ~1 KB code. So it could be worth it, but makes a
complicated ROM startup code.

There is another way for FM users, which is possible already today:
You can "downflash" your FM to become a V2 recorder model. The Archos
firmware part of it won't have FM capabilities any more. But Rockbox will,
since the FM and V2 build are identical. The tuner is detected at runtime
and the radio gets enabled. So no difference if you are a Rockbox purist.

Currently, my safety checks in the flash plugins prevent you from using the
"wrong" image, since e.g. FM and V1 recorder firmware mixup is a nasty trap.
FM and V2 mixup is no problem, as I stated above. I can prepare a special
image for downgrading, in case you want ROMbox so badly.
