Subject: Playback speed halved, record speed doubled.

Playback speed halved, record speed doubled.

My V1 Recorder has developed a new and exciting fault. For some reason, my
MP3s are all playing back at slightly less than one half speed. The WPS
clock still runs in realtime however, so by the end of the song, I will
read something like "6:20/3:00". I also recorded some MP3s before I
noticed the fault which play back at slightly more than double speed on my
desktop machine.

This all began when I had to resolder the end-board at the USB jack end of
my Recorder. I certainly didn't poke my soldering iron anywhere strange
while I was fixing my box, so I can't imagine how this would happen.

Amiconn on IRC suggested I might now have a defective MAS, but I haven't
been able to get close enough to pin 8 (the clock pin) to test whether his
guess is right.

Have any of you got any ideas or advice? Could this be somehow a software
problem? (The same fault shows up under the original firmware too.)

I'd like to fix this myself rather than look for replacement parts -- I am
trying to save up enough money to pay my tuition.

Any and all advice would be excellent.

Thanks, (or should I say: "Tthhaannkkss...")

Peter
