(ie, use the .bin file supplied with those instructions) You will be flashing a release build of rockbox. After that, you can use the .ucl files included in the daily builds/rombox builds/etc. Basically, you need to program the rockbox loader (rolo) into the ROM before you can program rockbox for the first time. Once you've programmed the rockbox loader, you can load any ucl image into the flash rom. UCL is a compressed format, which is understood by rolo. Rockbox can fit two whole images into the rom with compression, which is why you can still boot into the archos firmware with rockbox flashed. ~Jonathan ggm_at_apnic.net wrote: > do you have to deploy rombox as a .bin only, and does it wipe the second image? > > eg, is it sufficient to rolo into abjrec.ajz, and then auto-flash the > supplied .ucl file in the .rockbox/ directory or do you have to manually > create and deploy a .bin image? > > the zip doesn't supply a .bin :-( > > can you use the flash plugin to deploy .ucl images or only .bin in the top level? > > some emails imply you can write a .ucl.
