I remember Linus, you said the new boot loader fixes > this > but how do you know what version bootloader you have? There is a check in the rockbox_flash.rock plugin. If the .ucl flashing doesn't bitch about you having an old bootloader, you have the current one. But don't overestimate the bootloader effect. It does nothing about charging. Problem was: The disk is on by hardware default, this is very undesired when the batteries are flat. It was drawing power or even starting to spin until the charging screen of Rockbox or Archos came up and disconnected it. With flat batteries you didn't get there any more, power collapsing before. Now it shuts off the disk as soon as it gets control, if the charger is plugged. There still is a brief time with disk power, but I try to minimize it. > Anyway, I think it wouldn't do any real harm to immediately start > charging, > then after a minute or so, stop charging and wait for a reading from the > batteries. Yes, this would be a nice change to the charging code.
