Keywords from the original post being "not v2", which means v1 recorder,
which means it does NOT charge from USB. It doesn't matter what type of
battery is used either, as charging via USB is a hardware feature, but for
future reference - v1's use NiMH batts and unfortunately do not have that
hardware feature.
