Hi, could I ask a question, would it be possible that 2.3 will speak
from the standard version, rather than having to download the daily
builds? the reason I ask is, that it would make it less confusing for
new users trying to install rockbox for the first time.

This may have already been done, I just remember being told when I
first installed that I needed to install the daily build.

Absolutely, but not until we have sorted out the (S/PDIF) recording
problems.
