Date: Wed, 15 Sep 2004 15:03:58 +1200 (NZST) Hi, Approximately 2 months after my warranty expired for my Jukebox 20 I noticed that the unit was not charging up. I replaced the DC adaptor (same voltage/ampage) but had the same problem – unit was plugged in but would not charge/run off dc. And then while trying to run it off DC again a puff of smoke and an electrical smell came from the unit. Not good. Couldnt see any burn marks if I opened up the unit but if I put some new charged batteries in it would work perfectly. So got it RMAed at the cost of $120US (had to go to France and it got lost in the mail for ~4 months!!!) where I think they replaced all pcb boards and put a new set of batteries. Two months later the same thing happens again. No charging, some smoke, a bad smell and one annoyed owner. This time I cant be fscked paying lotsa money to get it repaired again. The unit will still work if charged batteries are used by I can not be bothered changing batteries everytime I want to use it. So does anyone have any experiences of this happening or perhaps how to fix it (with out getting it RMA’ed)? Otherwise does anyone or perhaps the Rockboxx dev team want a kinda broken Jukebox 20? Offers would be welcome but I’d be happy enough to get rid of it if buyer paid shipping. Note that I am in New Zealand so shipping may be quite expensive depending on where you are in the world. First in, first served with preference going to purchase offers unless the Rockboxx dev team want it because they get dibs for producing some awesome firmware that was totally superior to the Archos releases.
