F2 is used for frequently accessed functions such as toggling shuffle and repeat, and changing the file browser filter. I agree F3 is not used for anything really useful though. We have discussed changing it for a context-sensitive menu. (Search the archive for 'NEWKEYS'.)

The menu has been subject to an extensive restructuring quite recently. It's probably a good idea to scan the archive for this topic too.

We are planning to add a context menu to the wps, which among other things can run a plugin against the currently playing file (much like "open with..." in the on+play menu in the dir browser). This will allow both deletion of files as well as features like tagging files for reripping or marking favorites.

I believe this solution will solve your problem in a better way than adding a hardcoded delete-current-file feature.
