I am using Win98 (not SE) too and it is working here (although
only in slow USB 1.1 mode).

I bought an USB card for my older PC with drivers for Win98
but as you I also have errors in device manager. I have two entries:

"NEC PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller" and
"NEC PCI/USB Open Host Controller"

but only the last is working.
Anybody knows how to get the first one working too? ;-)

If you want to get an automatic drive letter assignment when
attaching your Archos to the USB port you need an USBtoIDE
driver. It's only 64 kB, if you send me your email address
(to juergen.hestermann_at_gmx.de) I can send it to you.

Jürgen Hestermann.
