Hello list,
Any suggestions for my brother?
He has become rather dispondant over working with RockBox, and I hope we can
help him work out his problems with his unit.
I wish I could help him, but I don't have an Ondio, and therefore, some
things like holding down the F1 key on start up is not the same for the
Ondio.
But if you remember his prior message from a couple of days ago, you might
know how to help him.
Originally he had trouble with putting folders on his 1 gig card.
Anyway, here's his latest frustration with the Ondio & Rockbox.
BTW, he has operated computer networks, and done just about there is to do
with MS utilities & configuring windows, but lately he has been doing mor
with his construction business, and less with computers, so he does not want
to be messing with stuff that does not work.

    I should have quit while i was ahead (or behind?). My rockbox is no
more- rockbox is now a "lockbox!".
Screen is frozen on startup with "rockbox"- cant do anything else. Found
inserting mmc, then start, it says: "no partition table-insert usb and fix
it!".
Insert usb and wont communicate w/computer. If i then remove mmc-the comp
then communicates and i tried format (fat16) then re-install rockbox from
the ...exe file and still no work (???!!).
I flashed the first image as i thought it would help with the 1gig card
problem (mistake). Archos is no loger on any image.

I think rockbox stinks IMHO and i see no value whatso ever in doinking with
this stuff as i have better stuff to do-dont want to be thier beta tester.
All i want to do is drag/drop music machine that works!
     Dont even care about any tech stuff cause theres no value in it-next
month things will change anyway. Archos are morons for non-builtin support
of larger mmc cards-would never consider anything of thiers again. I dont
like rockbox as its in its infancy-too dam technical! Too much fuss to gain
too little! If they go anywhere they better plan a windows interface that
does it for ya (safely).

I still want to fix this ondio as i plan to sell the ondio and 256, 1gigmb
mmc on ebay asap.Take a loss and try to recoup some.
Planning to buy a ipod or sataliete system and be done with it- both seem
like a smarter unit.

Battery life on all these music units are dumb and pathetic! 6-8hrs whoppie!
constantly swapping rechargables is a joke. The ipod charges as its in the
dock-that makes sence.
