Hi, I have the same problem, and the only way I've found round it is
this, get to the recording screen option on the menu, then press the
play button twice. It's easier doing that than actually activating
the recording screen option, and then working out where you are. It's
not a great solution, but it's a work round. If the developers could
somehow change the voice prompts so they say "recording" when it's
activated, and "pause record when in that mode or something similar,
it would help very much.

Subject: Difficulty knowing whether I'm on "record" or "pause"
Hi, all! I'm very new to using Rockbox with my Archose, which I think
is 10 gig? Anyway, as a blind user I truly appreciate the fact that
there is some speech which lets me know what's what. My question is
this: I recently thought I was recording an event, only to find there
was nothing there. Is there any way I can tell if I'm on pause or am
actually recording, or do I just have to remember where I am and hope?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
