Rockbox mail archiveSubject: multivolume for harddisk models, too?multivolume for harddisk models, too?

Date: Wed, 5 Jan 2005 13:53:35 +0100 (MET) Hi, Rockbox learned a new trick, on the Ondio: the ability to work with multiple partitions, which can be on different drives (internal memory and plugged MMC card). Any extra partitions appear as a special, "virtual" directory in the root dir. We could enable this feature across all models, at a cost of growing Rockbox by ~900 bytes. Perhaps half of this is the fat driver layer, the rest for file system, UI, etc. Each partition mount we prepare for costs ~100 bytes, the Ondio currently supports 2 of them. Would this be of any use, are people partitioning their disks and want to browse across? To how many partitions should we limit ourselves? (Don't dare to ask for a config option.) A very special application would be a home HD player from a scrapped Archos, with 2 disk drives, or a Compact Flash slot. This would require a little addition to the ATA driver, treating the drive# parameter for a master/slave decision. Right now only the MMC driver supports 2 drives.
