Date: Thu, 6 Jan 2005 15:39:24 -0500 For what it is worth, this explanation implies jaws is simply doing text->speech on the standard HTML "alt" attribute text. The original intent of the "alt" text is to give the browser some simple text to display if the graphic version isn't rendered (this is helpful if you are using a text-only browser or if you are on a slow internet link).
