Subject: ID3 browser ready for testing

ID3 browser ready for testing

From: Björn Stenberg <bjorn_at_haxx.se>

Hi all.

I just committed the code for playing songs from the ID3 browser, which means it's now ready to be tested by a larger audience. The code will be in the daily build for 21 jan (but the impatient can of course download the bleeding edge build right now).

To try it, see the instructions on this wiki page:
  http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/TagDatabase

Known issues:

- It's still early code with only little polish, so don't expect the full monty yet. There is currently no search function, but that is the next item on my todo list.

- The indexer is still very strict and considers tags as-they-are, without any clever hacks to match near-identical tags. It also doesn't do a very good job with multi-artist albums at the moment (you get one album per artist) but all this will be looked at soon.

- The On+Play menu has not yet been adapted to id3 mode, so it displays useless items such as "rename" and "delete" even for id3 tags.

- You cannot play very long tables yet (such as All Songs). Actually, you can play them but you will only get the first few hundred tracks.

If you find other bugs (no feature requests yet, please), report it in a comment in this mail thread. It's more efficient than the bug tracker for this type of work in progress.
