Recently someone mentioned this A-A retractile USB cable.

I ordered several. I'm happy to report that this cable works just fine,
even at USB2 speeds. The cable itself looks like a tiny version of zip
cord. Very flexible. Much less likely to damage the Archos' USB
connector than the supplied cable. At a buck 99, one can't complain about
the price either.
