I just turned it off before unplugging it. ***You should never just unplug your Juke box directly. You could really damage your hard drive by doing that. Once you are finished copying music to the box you go to your system tray and select the safely remove hardware option and press enter on it. If you are using JAWS you press insert + F11 to toggle to the system trey. Sometimes jfw will not focus when you enter on the safely remove option. In that case minimize to the desk top and do a shift + tab which will take you to the system trey. Select as stated above and A dialog box should appear asking you to select a device to remove. As there is only the juke box it should say something like "Safely remove drive H?" or, What ever the drive letter associated to your Archos is. tab to the stop button and press enter. Press the ok button. A message will appear either advising you that the drive could not be removed or, it is now safe to remove the box. If it advises that the drive could not be removed then wait 20 seconds or so and try again. In some cases, Windows will not let you remove the drive using the safely remove feature. In that case just shut down your PC and it will be safe to unplug the juke box. Never, never unplug the box without doing either of these tasks. You also wrote: I was copying a lot of music. When you copy music, does it drain the power faster? There is 20 GB of space and before I copied this new batch of music, it said I had 17.2 GB free and that's a lot of space. ***When you are copying music the juke box hard drive is constantly spinning thus using maximum power. It is always wise to have the juke box fully charged and to have the charger attached to the box while transferring music as you never know when the batteries might fail. You finally ask: I'll try charging it and see how it works. I hope that will take care of it. *** I hope so too. How did it turn out? Cheers...rocker ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sarai D. Hi Sarah, Did you use safely remove storage device before you unplugged it? How much music were you trying to copy to the box? Remember that while the battery does charge when plugged into the USB, your battery will still drain power. Sometimes the juke box will act funny if the battery has a low charge. Try it after you have charged it and I bet it will be fine. hth...rocker ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sarai D. I'm having problems with my Archos Studio 20 recorder. I charged it up yesterday and today I copied several folders of music to it. However one song said file couldn't copy, invalid file name, so I clicked cancel. Then my player turned off, I turned it on again and my computer couldn't find my player. I unplugged it and cut it on and the hard disk made a clicking sound when it spun up. The light was there and my dad said the screen showed three bars out of fifteen bars. We plugged it in and the hard disk still made a clicking sound when it spun up, about a minute later, rockbox came on and spoke the directory names. I chose a song and hit play, the hard disk made that clicking sound but nothing would play. Can some one help! I've never had this happen before. I'm charging the unit now but this is weird. Sarai D.
