I know it sounds fishy, and you never can be sure what the data will be
used for, but at least in this case the system sounds ok. The plugins
are all open source, and all data collected is released under a creative
commons license. Of course data is collected anonymously. But I'm sure
it may be used for a commercial purpose some time.
The only real advantage one gets from usage is suggestions of artists
one might like based on what one listens to. If that's of value is
anyone's decision, I often find stuff I didn't know before but like.
