Date: Tue, 8 Mar 2005 21:13:46 -0600 Its also not that stable. I'm not a fan. I like the Braille Note or the Braille Note PK. The PK is a true PDA, it plays all types of media. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Glenn at home" <GlennErvin_at_cableone.net> To: "Rockbox development" <rockbox_at_cool.haxx.se> Sent: Tuesday, March 08, 2005 6:26 PM Subject: Re: PDA to Jukebox Yeh, I agree, I thought the pacmate had a hard drive. For the price, this device should have no less than 256MB ram, and at least 20GB for a hard drive. (smile) Still, you would think that a unit that is basically a lap top without a hard disk would come with more memory? Thanks...rocker ----- Original Message ----- From: "Aman Singer" <aman_at_asinger.net> To: "'Rockbox development'" <rockbox_at_cool.haxx.se> Sent: Sunday, March 06, 2005 4:10 PM Subject: RE: PDA to Jukebox Hi, Rocker. Actually, the Pacmate has 64 megabytes of main memory and 32 MB of ROM. The total is 96 megs, not 8. As I said before, though you can expand this amount to around 8-10 gigabytes, it costs allot when compared to the Archos units. What a joke! Way to go Rockbox and the Voice UI....rocker ----- Original Message ----- From: "Aman Singer" <aman_at_asinger.net> To: "'Rockbox development'" <rockbox_at_cool.haxx.se> Sent: Monday, March 07, 2005 9:36 AM Subject: RE: PDA to Jukebox Hi. You said Some one suggested connecting the Archos to a Pack Mate and reading the files through the PM, why don't you just save them to the PM instead. Because the PM can take, at most, 8 gigabytes of extra memory at an extra cost, over and above the PM's price, of $600 or so. The Archos can hold 20 gigabytes of information at least, and the cost is $200. There's no comparison of cost to storage space between using files on the PM and using files on the Archos through the PM. In particular, the 3000 and 6000 models have USB host and support USB MSD.
