How good is the JBS charging algorythm; or wether to charge JBS "internal" or "external"

Hi guys,

I repaired my JBS (DC Controller of charging circuit was blown) and yet
don't know how this could happen. So I'm thinking wether taking out the
batteries (which is eventually harmful to the PCBs) and charging them
external or using the internal charger via DC- Adaptor (not original) is
  better.

Therefore the following would be gould to know:
-Does the internal charger of the JBS stop charging, when batteries are
full?
-How good is the charging of the internal charger (charging result)? My
impression is it is very bad
-Can the internal charger handle higher capacities?
- How reliable are the batterie dates in rockbox-info on the jbs (My HD
didn't spin up anymore 5 Minutes after rockbox info told me i have
another 77% capacity and 11 hours to go!)

Thanks a lot in advance,

markus
