Power consumption Aside from a sideways mention of shock rating and power consumption, they ignored these things. Real world review: About 6 months ago I installed the Toshiba 80 gig drive. I recently ran my JBR V1 to battery exhaustion for the first time. I got 23 hours out of 2300 mah batteries playing 45kbps audio books. The battery indicator zeroed out at about 16 hours. That is at least a third more battery life than I ever got with the stock drive. Power consumption is almost everything with our machines. During playback, the drive will spin up, gulp some data and spin down in under 2 seconds. That is an important characteristic because it minimizes the time the heads are unparked and sensitive to shocks. The OEM drive took about twice that time.
