Interesting. I had to try that out by playing back a 48 kHz ogg file on the Iriver firmware. The optical output was accepted by my old MD recorder that doesn't like 48 kHz from satellite. So it must be resampled. But if Iriver can do it, I bet with time Rockbox will do better.
