Thanks, it was the unsoldering that threw me, I thought there was a way to
do it without that.

Now that I've got the thing open, here's another question - I have an FM
model with a broken LCD & HD, and a perfectly good V2 recorder (one of the
later ones w/o the vestigial FM hardware inside.) Anybody know if it's
possible to transplant the FM gadgetry into an ordinary V2?
