This behaviour would be truly hilarious. I remember to be constantly annoyed because I accidently had pressed OFF and therefore didn't got the resume I expected. Nowadays it would be even worse because on the ARCHOS at least you are supposed to press OFF once to stop playback, let the resume-info be written by the software and then press OFF twice afterwards to get a clean shutdown. If the resume-behaviour would be changed, you could have a clean shutdown or resume, but not both.
