Date: Mon, 27 Jun 2005 10:22:34 -0800 I had a dream.. with the realization that linux run on apple's iPod, it seemed that it would be a slightly easier task than porting it to completely new hardware. And in my dream, it happened. And it was sweet. So, if this were to happen, I guess there'd need to be some sort of roadmap to plan out the fun stuff, like * creating the development environment (done, copy from the iLinux project) * figure out boot loader (done, copy from the iLinux project) * figure out exe format for new OS (done, copy from the iLinux project) * figure out the display (done, copy from the iLinux project) * figure out input from keys (done, copy from the iLinux project) * figure out the audio driver (done, copy from the iLinux project) So really, there's a lot of GPL cut-n-pasting to do.. And a lot of trial and error testing, I'm sure. (and yes, I'm aware that I've skipped a lot of steps above) Unfortunately, I've got a 4th Gen iPod taking the place of my dead 20JBR, so until they've got that fully supported, I can't do any devel work. But I thought I'd mention it, in case there were any other people that might want to gang up on this. _______________________________________________ http://cool.haxx.se/mailman/listinfo/rockbox Received on 2005-06-27 Page template was last modified "Tue Sep 7 00:00:02 2021" The Rockbox Crew -- Privacy Policy |
