Thanks to all individually and collectively. I removed everything from the jukebox again, unzipped the 2.5 zip file (instead of the 2.5 install.exe) and unzipped the bootbox. This time everything went smoothly according to the instructions, amd I am successfully booting 2.5 in rom.

May I submit that there is a file which is either old or for different Archos product that is getting installed by the windows installer when selecting jukebox recorder version 1.

Again thanks to all. I'm off to listen to some great music now, so if you'll excuse me...
